Chateau De Lis, nestled in the outskirts of Oregon City, Oregon is a Wildly romantic French Chateau Wedding Venue. With an old-world beauty, Chateau De Lis is the venue to visit if you are planning your upcoming wedding in the Portland Metro area. With a cascading lawn, beautiful European water features and layers of interesting photo backdrops it’s just a dreamy spot for you and your guests alike. If planning an Oregon Destination Wedding, this venue would provide so many of the amenities needed for a luxury wedding without having to bring in a massive amount of rentals.
Here are a few of my favorite features at Chateau De Lis in Oregon City, Oregon.
Beautiful Bridal Suite For Bridal Prep Photos
Natural light and clean background are so crucial for beautiful bridal portraits, and it’s definitely magical to have a space that really highlights the bride with minimal effort. As a film photographer, light Is CRUCIAL. It’s all about the light, and if there is a wall of windows, you can bet there will be some gorgeous film images as a result. Recently, we hosted a full bridal portrait session at this venue, with multiple bridal gowns and some of my favorite images (below) are shot in this room. Don’t you love those luxury bridal shoes? (Manolo Blahnik? Yes, please!)
Staircases for Wedding Portraits
Both outdoors or indoors, the stairs at this venue are to die for. I know this it technically a “French” chateau’ but it really does have some Italian vibes with the stucco exterior. The stairs in the reception area are so lovely, warm peachy hues– and bounce light beautifully. They provide a lot of creative freedom and angles that aren’t as common in venues– so when there are stairs, I always take advantage of them. I move around the couple and get multiple angles all in one spot, which makes the portrait time as efficient as possible— which means more beautiful photos!
Balcony Photos
If you have a drone (which I do) then the full-story shots are fairly easy. But if you don’t, having a balcony is so helpful in getting that “overhead” 30,000 ft view of the entire event. I love shooting from above, (we all look better from above, am I right?) and having multiple balconies at this venue to shoot from is a boon.
Shade For Photos
I know this is not a primary concern, but in the warm summer months, having shade is pretty crucial for all this bridal party photos and family portraits. I have been to so many venues that feature a giant beautiful building, but NO SHADE anywhere nearby. The sun is constantly at the backs of your subjects, and it can really be a less than flattering light situation.
