VOGUE WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY

THE
JOURNAL

I love the chemistry between a man and a woman. The romance, the energy, the intimacy-- and when, at their best, they really do pull out greatness in the other.
I have experienced many subjects and genres of photography  over the years, but wedding photography always draws me back. The sheer intensity, the 'once in a lifetime' nature of it, and so much diversity in one day. From details (still life), family portraits, documentary photography, food, fashion photography-- Weddings have it all. I believe Simon Sinek said it best:
"Working hard for something we don't care about is called stress; working hard for something we love is called passion".

I’m sitting here in my pink leopard long-johns, hoping to find some grain of inspiration to write. It’s the quiet season. The mounds of editing have dissipated, all neatly delivered via PASS, and I’m staring at my empty camera cards wondering what I should be doing. To avoid complete photo hybernation, write a list of […]

What You Should Be Doing During the Off-Season

When shooting families, I go big or go home. You need that long focal length to provide separation between your clients and the background. I try to shoot 85mm or higher for beautiful, classic family portraits.  85mm 1.4    – 1/800 f2.2  ISO 320 85mm 1/1000 f2.2. ISO 320 85mm 1/800 f2.2. ISO 320 70-200mm, […]

What Lenses To Use For Family Portraits

Dale Carnegie, the famed author of How to Win Friends and Inluence People, offers this sage advice: “you can make more friends in two months by becoming genuinely interested in other people than you can in two years by trying to get other people interested in you.” When dealing with people in a word-of-mouth industry, […]

Marketing + Business: Genuinely Interested In Others

I am infatuated with Ralph Lauren. The posing, the sophistication…omg, have you seen their new fall line? I could go on. Needless to say, Ralph Lauren has always been a huge inspiration for my brand- and hence a dynamic part of this Nautical Spring shoot recently published by Belle Magazine. Go Portland Vendors!

It was pitch black, indoors, and the coordinator was breathing down my neck like a panther waiting to pounce. I was dripping sweat, twitching with nerves and wanted to bite her head off. “Just give me 5 minutes!!” I was screaming internally. The ceremony was over, and I had a matter of seconds to capture […]

It’s just a Mac N Cheese kind of night. Husby is away, I’m alone, quiet and munching. It wasn’t a perfect day, but there’s an awesome therapy I’ve discovered for many of lifes ills: cooking. Yes, cooking is my theraphy. Edible Creativity. Nothing is so reinvigorating as a bunch of tarragon and slowly mixing a […]

Why We Need Mac N Cheese

Just over a year to date,  we were on the shores of the Columbia watching Mark and Christina vow their love and faithfulness witnessed by their family gathered round. Fast forward a year and they are rocking it, still super happy together, loving life and building their future with a passion. I envisioned a James […]

Anniversary Shoot: Mark + Christina

Vanity Fair and Vogue Magazine have always been sources of inspiration for me. The glossy pages are iconic of timeless sophistication and glamour, it exemplifies how I would want to be photographed, and influences how I capture others. This beautiful family was attending a wedding I was shooting last Saturday, the window light streaming in […]

Vanity Fair Inspired Portraits

It is my personal belief that women in general do not realize how beautiful they are to the rest of the world. Meet Janae, still radiant in her 50s.

Far far away, behind the word mountains, far from the countries Vokalia and Consonantia, there live the blind texts. Separated they live in Bookmarksgrove right at the coast of the Semantics, a large language ocean. A small river named Duden flows by their place and supplies it with the necessary regelialia. It is a paradisematic country, in which roasted parts of sentences fly into your mouth. Even the all-powerful Pointing has no control about the blind texts it is an almost unorthographic life One day however a small line of blind text by the name of Lorem Ipsum decided to leave for the far World of Grammar. The Big Oxmox advised her not to do so, because there were thousands of bad Commas, wild Question Marks and devious Semikoli, but the Little Blind Text didn’t listen. She packed her seven versalia, put her initial into the belt and made herself on the way.

Long before I was engaged, I knew I wanted Christa Taylor Photography to capture the special moments of my wedding. She more than met our expectations, and seldom a month goes by without somebody telling us how gorgeous our wedding pictures turned out!
Working with Christa is like finding some awesome girlfriend who completely gets you and can show you the beauty in whatever project you're undertaking. I recommend her to every bride I work with! Thank you, Christa, for your incredible work!

Christa is absolutely PHENOMENAL! My husband and I are beyond blessed to have had her capture our day! She was so great at directing people kindly and having fun too! She's a blast and we enjoyed the day more because of her! We loved getting to know her and she even had us to her home the week after our wedding for a brief photo shoot since the weather had been bad on the wedding day...she really went above and WAY beyond the call of a photographer and became our friend! She's the type we'd schedule a photo shoot with simply to see her and catch up!! There are not words to reccomend Christa highly enough! 💕We love you Christa!!
